Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS)

Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) is a program of the Community Outreach division encouraging the participation of citizen volunteers to assist the Conyers Police Department. Comprised of former Citizens Police Academy alumni, VIPS members are not certified sworn police officers and do not have authority or arrest powers, but are trained to assist CPD officers and observe, record and report. VIPS members assist at community events through traffic control, crowd control and parking. VIPS members may be called on to assist with traffic control in the event of a disaster or assist officers on patrol.

Citizens interested in the training and requirements to become a VIPS member, should contact Officer Debbi Krisher or Sergeant Peggy Dunn in the Community Outreach division. Officer Krisher can be reached at 678-374-5608. Sgt. Dunn can be reached at 678-374-5603.

Applications for the VIPS program may be obtained at the North Annex, 1258 Irwin Bridge Road.
